o On Saturday I got a deeply discounted Texas Rangers hat. On Sunday I got a free cinnamon roll. Two different companies and each time I pointed out the mistake to the cashier/waitress and each time they both said that it was “okay” and one said that she “didn’t care.”
Neither of these unauthorized discounts/freebies alone will bring down these companies, but I immediately wondered 1) Would their boss really be okay with what they did and 2) How often do these companies take these losses. If these types of actions are pervasive, then this could spell big trouble for these companies.
I can make a few valuable points, but perhaps the most important reminder for me that I would like to share with you is this: Hire people to care about your clients and resources the way you do.
